When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.West Park is without power. There are pockets of storm debris throughout our parks. We will be assessing any damage and cleaning up throughout the day.
We are closed until 10 a.m. due to being without power. We hope to open at that time, but will provide an update later this morning.
Updating on a few county government services:
▪️ The Harvey County Health Department is without power. The department will have a delayed opening, intending to open at 10 a.m., but will re-evaluate and update again later this morning.
▪️ Harvey County Parks has various debris throughout the parks. West Park is without power.
▪️ Services at the Harvey County Courthouse, Law Enforcement Center and the Solid Waste facility have normal operations.
Sheriff's Office deputies and Emergency Management personnel continue to assess damage this morning. Road and Bridge crews are placing barricades on county roads that are not passable due to debris or damage as needed. Cities have additional road closures and debris they are assessing.

Burrton residents were asked to shelter in place due to a possible chemical leak at a damaged oil facility west of the city. The alert was issued just after 9 p.m., and lifted just after 11 p.m. U.S. Highway 50 has reopened in Harvey County.
Several roadways throughout Harvey County are closed, both in rural areas and within municipalities. Drivers should proceed with caution, as nighttime conditions can make identifying road hazards challenging.

Burrton residents are asked to continue to shelter in place due to a potential chemical leak caused by tonight's storms. The shelter-in-place radius has been expanded to a one-mile radius from the site of the damaged oil facility, which is on U.S. Highway 50 between Woodberry and Wheat State roads. The sheltering radius was expanded due to wind shifts. As a precaution, residents should keep windows and doors closed, and turn off air conditioning units.
Emergency responders remain on scene assessing the damage and situation. U.S. 50 is closed in both directions from Burmac Road into Reno County. Please avoid the area.

We have asked residents in Burrton to shelter in place due to a chemical leak. There was damage to an oil facility west of Burrton. Emergency responders are on scene assessing the situation. As a precaution, please keep windows and doors closed, and turn off AC.
U.S. Highway 50 is closed in both directions from Burmac Road into Reno County. Please avoid the area.
