While spring cleaning is on many to-do lists right now, the Department on Aging wants to remind older adults and caregivers that now is a great time to declutter wallets, billfolds and purses - and in turn, helping prevent scams and fraud.

There are lots of identifying items that are best left at home: a Medicare card, Social Security card, passport, birth certificate, lists with passwords, and considering if you need to take multiple credit cards or a checkbook on a particular trip. Scammers that come across identifying info from those items can turn them into synthetic identities to use for their own gain. Often, these tactics target older adults.

It's good advice for anyone to give their wallet an update from time to time, and especially so for older adults. Caregivers should talk to their care recipient about good practices for what to keep and what not to keep in their wallet. For more advice on best practices, contact the Department on Aging at 316-284-6880.While spring cleaning is on many to-do lists right now, the Department on Aging wants to remind older adults and caregivers that now is a great time to declutter wallets, billfolds and purses - and in turn, helping prevent scams and fraud.

Help the cows get to their home! We don't need them finding their way to NEWTON OPEN STREETS today.Don't have a cow, but these three beauties are on the loose and on the moo-o-o-ve. Our deputies are out working the ranch we all know as Harvey County and came across this trio up to no good.

This crew has hoofed it over to around Northwest 96th Street and North Willow Lake Road in the northwest part of the county, and were spotted just southeast of that area yesterday. Two of the three have black ear tags that say "SB."

We've probably milked this post dry of cow jokes, so if these are your cattle or you know whose they might be, please get in touch with us through dispatch (911).
