The Harvey County Clerk's Office will conduct the 2023 general election. This election includes races for city and school board seats.

Election Day is Nov. 7, but there are several important dates to keep in mind prior to that date:

  • Oct. 17: Voter registration deadline for this general election
  • Oct. 18: Advance-by-mail ballots begin to be mailed to those that have requested one
  • Oct. 24: Early in-person voting begins at the Harvey County Courthouse
  • Oct. 31: Last day to request an advance-by-mail ballot
  • Nov. 6: Early in-person voting ends at noon
  • Nov. 7: Poll sites are open across the county for Election Day
  • Nov. 14: Election canvass.

Harvey County residents can register to vote or update their voter registration information in the Clerk's Office at the Harvey County Courthouse, as well as online.

Early in-person voting in this election begins Oct. 24 at the Courthouse. Early voting will be available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early voting will also be available Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Early voting concludes Monday, Nov. 6 at noon. After that, voters will need to vote at their poll site on Election Day.

Advance-by-mail ballots can be requested through Oct. 31. The completed ballot can be placed in the return envelope, but must include the voter's signature. Advance ballots can be returned in several ways:

  • Mail the ballot back to the Harvey County Clerk's Office
  • Place the ballot in one of two ballot drop boxes in Harvey County: on the south side of the Harvey County Courthouse (800 N. Main St., Newton) or at Newton Fire/EMS Station 3 (2520 S. Kansas Ave., Newton)
  • Bring the ballot to the Clerk's Office at the Harvey County Courthouse
  • Take the ballot to a poll site on Election Day.
