The development of vaccines is a monumental step toward reducing the challenges and health concerns created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 16 years old and older. The FDA also has authorized and recommended the Pfizer vaccine for individuals 12-to-15 years old, as well as the Moderna and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccines for individuals 18 and older, through emergency use authorizations.
