This system makes it convenient for Kansas motorists to renew their vehicle
registration electronically. In addition, motorists may renew their vehicle
registration using a touch-tone telephone by calling: 1-866-4KS-TAGS (1-866-457-8247).
To renew online, all of the following must be true:
- The vehicle is currently registered in Kansas.
- You have a Kansas Motor Vehicle registration renewal notice that contains
a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
- Your address on the renewal notice is current.
- The vehicle is currently insured by a participating
insurance company.
The online web renewal option, www.kswebtags.org,
will accept your renewal payment by:
- VISA
- MasterCard
- Discover
- American Express
- Electronic Check
The phone renewal option, 1-866-4KSTAGS
(1-866-457-8247), will accept your renewal payment by:
- VISA
- MasterCard
- Discover
- American Express
The payment processor (credit card or e-check) charges a convenience
fee for use of this service.
To renew your tags electronically:
- Go to www.kswebtags.org
or call toll-free 1-866-4KSTAGS.
- Locate the PIN number on your renewal notice.
- Follow the screen or voice instructions to complete your renewal(s).
If you qualify for Kansas E-tags, your decal(s) and/or plate(s), along
with your official receipt will be mailed from your County Treasurer's
Motor Vehicle office in approximately 10 days. Please allow sufficient
time when renewing electronically to ensure your registration does not
expire. Motor vehicles cannot be legally operated without a current decal
or plate.
The following plate types CANNOT be renewed electronically:
- Children's Trust Fund
- Educational Institution
- Ex-Prisoner of War
- National Guard
- Pearl Harbor Survivor
- Shriners
- Disabled, Disabled Veteran and Personalized Disabled (during a re-certification
year)
To renew by mail or in person at your County Treasurer's Motor Vehicle Office:
- Fold the application and enclose in the envelope provided.
- Confirm all vehicle information is correct.
- Make any necessary address corrections.
- Sign the State of Kansas Vehicle Registration Application.
- Enclose a check or money order, payable to your County Treasurer.
- Enclose proof of current insurance which includes the vehicle's make,
model, and identification number (VIN), as well as the company name,
policy number and expiration date.
Photocopies of the following documents are considered proof of insurance
(Insurance renewal notices and bills from insurance companies are NOT
acceptable proof of insurance.):
- Certificate of insurance
- Binders
- Fleet policies
- Commercial policies
- An insurance card issued by an insurance company
- Certificate of self insurance
- Motor carrier ID number issued by the corporation commission
The county reserves the right to electronically debit your account for
both the face amount and return check fees if returned unpaid.
