HARVEY
COUNTY EAST LAKE HUNTING SEASON
DESIGNATED AREAS ONLY
Date: 11-4-08
Pheasant
and Quail Hunting
Pheasant and
Quail hunting will be the same as previous years with the exception
that special permits will be obtained at the Harvey County Court
House, “First Come First Served”, the week prior to
the desired hunting days. The park will be open to upland hunting
three days a week during the regular state season and will begin
November 15, 2008. A maximum of four hunters per party may hunt
Saturday, 1/2 day Sunday (afternoon), and Wednesday. The hunting
area will be marked with signs. The cost to hunt will be $5.00 for
in county and $8.00 for out of county per hunter per day. (Youth
hunters, with hunter safety certificate, under the age of sixteen
may hunt free when accompanied by an adult.)
Duck
and Goose Hunting
Duck and Goose
hunting will be confined to one duck blind located in Coot Cove
at the north end of the cove on the extreme east side of the lake.
Pursuing of crippled waterfowl will be limited to the waterfowl
hunting area only. If a crippled bird gets outside the waterfowl
hunting area it is lost. Waterfowl hunters may retrieve downed birds
with their boat within the designated waterfowl hunting area and
in accordance with Kansas State Waterfowl Hunting Rules and Regulations.
A Harvey County Parks & Recreation Boat Permit will not be required
for duck hunter boats. A volunteer has offered to build and install
the duck blind. The east lake waterfowl season will be the same
as the regular state waterfowl season and will begin November 15,
2008. Special permits will be obtained at the Harvey County Court
House, “First Come First Served”, the week prior to
the desired hunting days. The park will be open to waterfowl hunting
three days a week during the regular season. A maximum four hunters
per party may hunt Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday mornings only.
Waterfowl hunting will close at 12:00 noon on these three days.
The hunting area will be marked with signs. A floating sign will
be placed in the water midway between shorelines bordering the waterfowl
hunting area and at the entrance to the special permit hunting area.
Waterfowl hunters may drive their vehicles down to the hunting blind
location to unload equipment. However, they must park their vehicles
behind the gate at the entrance to the waterfowl hunting area. The
gate must be closed by those using the waterfowl hunting area. The
cost to hunt will be $5.00 for in county and $8.00 for out of county
per hunter. (Youth hunters, with hunter safety certificate, under
the age of sixteen may hunt free when accompanied by an adult.)
The
special hunting permits will be purchased at the Harvey County Court
House only. The existing Harvey County Parks & Recreation Permit
will be used as the upland and waterfowl hunting permit. Maps of
the hunting areas and the Kansas State Hunting Rules and Regulations
will be available at the Court House.
