Special
Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children
(WIC) Program
Provides
supplemental food assistance to income eligible women, infants
and children
The
mission of the WIC Program is to safeguard the health of low-income
women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional
risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information
on healthy eating and referrals for healthcare services. The
WIC Program is also designed to improve pregnancy outcomes
in pregnant women so infants are born healthy.
- Who
can participate?
- Participation
in the WIC Program is limited to pregnant women, postpartum
(delivered) women (breastfeeding women can participate up
to one year and non-breastfeeding women can participate
for six months). Infants and children can participate up
to the age of five.

does the WIC Program provide?
- Nutrition
Education
- Referrals
to healthcare and other appropriate services.
- Supplemental
foods. WIC checks are issued which the participating client
can take to the store and purchase nutritional foods.
