The Harvey County Health Department's health education services offers information on a variety of health topics, and can help you locate reliable sources of health information.

The HCHD can assist in locating certain health statistics. We also collaborate with other organizations on grant applications related to public health.

The HCHD has display items available for loan to community groups, churches, businesses and health fairs. We are happy and eager to partner with others in the community on projects and events that will improve the health of our citizens.

Chronic Disease Risk Reduction

The Health Department's Chronic Disease Risk Reduction program supports developing and implementing plans to reduce health-risk behaviors and aiding individuals in reducing the risk of developing chronic diseases.

Chronic diseases cost Kansans billions in combined dollars each year. One significant key to benefiting health is reducing the prevalence of chronic disease risk factors.

Tobacco use is a core focus area for CDRR. Local CDRR efforts center on addressing tobacco use among youth, reducing secondhand smoke exposure, promoting tobacco dependence treatment opportunities and refocusing on community activity and nutrition.

CDRR is supported through funding from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Among its focus areas, the Coalition pursues healthy eating options, promoting physical activity and tobacco cessation efforts.

The Coalition holds regular meetings on the first Wednesday of every other month at noon at the Harvey County Health Department. The public is welcome to attend any meeting.
